This is our Mammoth Mountain Snow Report for mid March and spring skiing and riding are in full effect. It feels like it has been spring since mid January with warm weather and very few windy days since the new year.
The backside of the mountain is super fun with wide open runs and great groomers. The upper mountain lifts and most of the runs over by The Mill and Main lodge are still in great shape, but the lower elevation lodges are showing sings of having very little snow in the last 3 months. Later in the day at Eagle and Canyon Lodges it is supper slushy and even some dirt is starting to show through.
A new feature at Mammoth is the boardercross run off chair 12. With rollers, banks, and a few mellow jumps it is worth the time to make the trip over there to check it out. You can also get off trail later in the day as things warm up, plenty of skiers and boarders were hitting the Avy Shoots and the bowl under Chair 5 as things soften up, but be warned, there are moguls.
In addition to the groomed runs on the upper mountain, the parks are also in great condition. There are a ton of unique and fun features for riders of all abilities. Main/Forest Trail park are super fun, Chair 4 park is has a ton of unique features, and the mini park at Canyon lodge is fun right now. Get out there and shred because the sun is shining and the lift lines are short for the rest of the season.
