Mammoth Mountain started the 2021/22 ski season in October for just the 10th time in it's existence. The first day of shredding for the 2021/22 season came on Oct 29th with perfect weather and lots of stoked skiers and snowboarders. They had only 3 lifts running and the gondola was operating from top to bottom. Coverage was great with variable conditions. There were some pockets of pow along with thin coverage in some areas. There were plenty of groomers to be carved with some icy spots in the morning turning to slush in the afternoon. Mammoth did a nice job setting up a small park on such short notice. They had 8 jibs set up in a direct line with a cool pyramid/rail feature that looked super fun. Overall, it felt a lot like spring riding conditions with a lot of good vibes.
