The Real Snow Report - Snow on Mammoth Mountain in Sept.

We had a surprise snow on Mammoth Mountain yesterday, Sept 28, 20201. It was only a dusting, but it is very rare to get any snow in Mammoth Lakes in September. By the time of this blog post the snow has already melted, but hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the 2021/22 winter season. Free Mountain Bike Trails in Mammoth Lakes

The Mammoth Mountain bike park is closed for the season, but there are plenty of places to ride in the Mammoth Lakes area. Don't put that mountain bike in storage just yet, below are a few suggestions for fun trails that are open until the snow starts flying. 1 - Panorama Dome Trail to Mammoth Rock Trail  My favorite ride in town is actually a combination of two trails. US Forest Service Temporarily Closing All California National Forests

Mammoth Mountain shut down all opperations suddenly on Monday evening when the US Forest Service closed Inyo National Forest. Even though the closure is only through Sept 17, 2021 and could be lifted at any time, the Mammoth Mountain website reads "The Mammoth Bike Park, Via Ferrata and Scenic Gondola are now closed for the summer season." Since we created the I Love Sierra Cement T-shirts, we sometimes get the question - What is Sierra Cement? The quick and easy answer is that it is a nickname for the snow the sometimes falls in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
